Size: Approximately 60 x 70 cm framed (46 x 55 cm image size)

A beautifully atmospheric Scandinavian landscape painted in oils on canvas by the noted Swedish artist Hugo Carlberg. Titled Klar vårdag (“Clear Spring Day”), the composition depicts a tranquil springtime scene with a white horse peacefully grazing beside a reflective pond beneath elegant, leafless trees, while rolling countryside stretches into the distance under an expansive sky.

Carlberg’s confident brushwork and restrained colour palette of soft blues, sage greens, warm ochres and muted earth tones capture the quiet beauty of the Nordic landscape. Delicate reflections across the water, expressive tree forms and subtle variations in light create a composition full of depth and atmosphere, characteristic of the artist’s sensitive approach to rural subjects.

Oil on canvas. Signed lower left and titled Klar vårdag on the reverse. Presented in its original period gilt and cream wooden frame and ready to hang.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. The canvas remains sound and the paint surface is stable, displaying only light age-related surface wear consistent with its age. The original frame shows minor cosmetic wear and small marks commensurate with use, while presenting beautifully overall. Ready to hang.
