A charming mid-century oil on canvas depicting a peaceful French village scene with traditional houses nestled amongst mature trees and lush garden foliage. Painted with confident, expressive brushwork and a subdued palette of greens, greys and warm earth tones, the composition beautifully captures the quiet atmosphere of a rural streetscape.

Executed by an unidentified artist, the painting displays many characteristics of European Post-Impressionist landscape painting, favouring mood and painterly expression over fine detail. The work has recently been professionally reframed in a complementary contemporary frame that enhances its presentation while allowing the painting itself to remain the focal point.
