Hellebores | Oil on Board Painting

Artist: Lisa Howe

Origin: England

Date: Mid / Late Century

Size: Approximately

A beautifully executed floral still life painted in oils on board, depicting a vibrant arrangement of white and deep burgundy hellebores against a softly textured blush-toned background. Painted with confident, expressive brushwork and a delicate understanding of light, the composition celebrates the understated beauty of one of the earliest flowering garden plants.

Howe employs a rich, painterly technique, building the blooms with generous layers of impasto while allowing looser, more gestural brushstrokes to define the foliage and background. The harmonious palette of soft pinks, sage greens, creamy whites and rich plum tones creates a warm, elegant composition that feels both timeless and contemporary.

Oil on board. Signed lower right. Presented in a quality gilt frame and ready to hang.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. The board is sound, and the paint surface is stable with only light age-related wear consistent with its age. The frame displays minor cosmetic wear commensurate with use and presents beautifully. Ready to hang.

*Please note that all paintings have had previous lives and may be in an antiqued / worn condition. Signs of wear and minor damage are to be expected, as they contribute to each painting’s unique character and history.
